Arsene Wenger labelled Jack Wilshere’s performance as “outstanding”.
The Englishman ran the show as Arsenal defeated BATE Borisov 4-2. The 25 year old could be seen bossing the game in only his second appearance for Arsenal and that too after almost a year.
Jack Wilshere could be seen doing his best to seal away his place in the starting XI in the Premier League and also to get a new contract offer from Arsenal. His contract ends at the end of the season and he displayed how creative and how good his vision is in the midfield and also why he deserves a contract renewal in his second game of the season for Arsenal.
Wenger had made 9 changes to his squad in order to prepare for Brighton at home. He along with Theo Walcott, Per Mertesacker and Giroud were called for the game.
Walcott’s brace, Holding’s goal and Giroud’s penalty put Arsenal on the top of group H.
Here’s what Arsene Wenger said about Jack Wilshere:
“He had an outstanding first half.
“He fights until the end. He’s on his way back to his best and showed that. Jack’s at an age where a player normally gets to the best of his career. He’s on the way up. He’s only been stopped by a series of injuries.
“Hopefully, I just pray, he is not hampered by any more problems and that will see him getting stronger and stronger. He’s shown again that he’s not lost his football.”
While Jack Wilshere performance received praise from everyone, Arsenal forward Giroud was also admired for the amazing feat he had accomplished last night.
Here’s what Arsene had to say about Giroud’s major accomplishment:
“I congratulated Olivier for reaching that landmark because he is in very good company.
“It is a remarkable achievement when you look at the number of games he has taken to get to his hundred.”
We hope to see more such feats from Giroud. And also that Wilshere is offered a new contract. And his career is no longer hindered by injuries. We pray for his fitness as he’s an important asset to Arsenal and also that may he get more playing time.
