Arsenal Player considering retirement after joining us just months ago. Stephan Lichsteiner joined Arsenal on a free transfer from Juventus.
He thought the Premier League would be piece of cake but it didn’t turn out to be what he had expected.
He might be seriously considering retirement.

This is primarily because he is facing competition from Hector Bellerin. He has failed to break into the first team.
He was Unai Emery’s first signing at Arsenal made when Emery joined Arsenal.
Lichsteiner has revealed how stiff the competition at Arsenal is.
In an interview with Sportal he said,
I could have changed to five other clubs in the summer, knowing that I would certainly play 47 out of 50 serious matches,
“i was looking for a demanding challenge in a new league. That is why I knew I had to fight for a regular spot against Hector Bellerin.
For me, stepping down has never been up for debate.
If I have to admit that I can not keep the level of the last few years, then it is time.
But then I will not only resign from the Swiss national team, but finish my career.
Based purely on performance data I have the physicality of a 28-year-old.
When asked about his playing time
It is quite unusual for me to be a substitute. Three games in a row [on the bench], that’s never happened to me.
If you have achieved a lot in your career, you have high expectations of yourself and want to play.
But I also know that I will get the chance to play games.

Emery still prefers Bellerin over Lichsteiner.
Lichsteiner the 34 year old Swiss International has played over 600 games at club level and during that period he has managed to secure over 103 caps for his national team.
But what caught the eye of every Arsenal fan was this statement.

Feeling really sad that Laurent Koscielny is 33 today. Imagine having him and Lichtsteiner at 28 years old right this second?

Lichsteiner isn’t bothered by the lack of playing time he’s getting. He was aware that he’d be facing competition from Bellerin.
His arrival has helped improved Bellerin by giving him competition. Bellerin now knows one bad performance and he’ll be dropped for the veteran Stephan Lichsteiner.
Fans are dying to see the veteran Swiss international in action.
He had a decorated career at Juventus.
He won Serie A 7 times.
Coppa Italia five times. Once with Lazio and four times with Juventus.
And the Supercoppa Italiana four times. Once with Lazio and thrice with Juventus.
We hope he can bring the same luck to Arsenal.
And help us lift several trophies during the time he stays here.
He is one of our most experienced players.
And surely one of the best in his positions.
It would be a shame to see someone of his caliber retiring so early especially when he can give two or three good seasons easily.
Let’s just hope we get to see him playing soon.
